What does it mean to be good?

Join Across the Table for dinner in the private room at The Peckish Pig!

The topic of conversation will be: What does it mean to be good?
We are often told as kids to “be good!” But what does that mean? How are we influenced by expectations for our gender, race, ethnicity or religion? And if we defy those expectations, does that make us bad?

The menu will be announced soon!

Thank you Peckish Pig for donating your beautiful private room for this event! We appreciate your generosity!peckish pig

How has your appearance impacted your life?

Join Across the Table in the beautiful, sunny space of Saville Flowers to talk about how we think our appearance has impacted our lives and the choices we have been able to make.

How has our appreance influenced who we’ve chosen as friends and partners? How has our appearance impacted the career choices we’ve made? If we had the choice, would we choose to appear differently than we do? How would you change and why?

Dinner will be catered by Kinship and a menu will be announced soon.

Thank you to Saville Flowers for hosting Across the Table once again!

Is Telling the Truth Always the Right Thing to Do?

Join Across the Table at Booked, Evanston’s newest independent book store! The space is bright, sunny and new and welcoming.

The topic of conversation is: Is telling the truth always the right thing to do?

From as far back as many of us can remember, we have always been told that we should ALWAYS tell the truth. But is it always the right thing to do? Where does this advice come from? What sorts of situations have required us to stretch the truth, to tell a white lie, or to tell a full blown, total and complete lie? What situations have we told the truth and regretted it?

The menu will be announced soon!

We hope you can join us!

How Money Plays into Our Lives, Our Relationships and Our Identity

Join Across the Table for our dinner at The Black House at Northwestern University to talk about how money impacts who we are, our relationships and how we choose to live. Of course our access to money and resources affects us every day on a practical level, but how does it impact the people we choose to be close to, the activities we choose to do and the ambitions we have?

The menu will be announced soon!

What does it mean to have power?

Who has power and does not? Do you need to be given power by someone else or can you attain it yourself? Are there certain things you need to know to be powerful? Do you need access to specific information, people or institutions? How do we get power if we don’t have it and how should we treat people who do not have it?

Join Across the Table for this important and intense conversation in the indoor space of Five and Dime. Five and Dime is generously donating their space for this event so it will just be us at a table for twelve in their upstairs space.

The dinner will be provided by Lulu’s and the menu will be announced soon!

Thank you to Five and Dime and Lulu’s for their generosity!

When is it enough?

We live in a time when many us are striving to be better and while better means different things to different people, many of us find ourselves in a constant loop of trying to be better at our jobs, better parents, better friends, better eaters…we strive to be thinner, stronger, younger, the list goes on!

But when is it enough? When do we feel like we are enough and we’ve reached our potential?

Join Across the Table in the elegant, welcoming and stylish space of Industrious Evanston. To read more about this new co-working space in Downtown Evanston, click here.

Thank you to Industrious for donating your space for this dinner!
